Arrest My Husband And Nigeria Will Boil –Asari-Dokubo’s Wife Dares Buhari

By Junior Otabono

Barely 24 hours after her husband had warned the president-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari against sending any Nigerian to prison when he assume office, Hajia Mujahidat Daba Dokubo-Asari wife of ex Niger Delta militant, Asari Dokubi has once again affirmed that no one can arrest her husband.

Her reason, the Niger Delta freedom fighter never held any political office and will never be held accountable for anything under president Jonathan’s administration.

She voiced her anger via a post on Facebook thus “Buhari must start his victimisation of his perceived enemies called probing of missing funds from his own cabinet first and the said probe must take effect from 1978 when Buhari was the petroleum minister anything short of that is unacceptable to the Nigerian populace.

“ The probing must be all round not selective. For those myopic Almajiri fools who blab that Asari will be prosecuted , I’m sorry to disappoint you , Asari has never held any political post so think of something else  if your Buhari arrest Asari today, another one thousand Asari will sprang up instantly unless he want to commit genocide in the Niger delta. which you know is not possible in a democratic dispensation.

Driver attacked by seven dogs

A 45-year-old commercial driver, Saturday Akpomose, narrowly escaped death last Saturday, after he was attacked by seven dogs at Ajah area of Lagos State. The timely intervention of residents and passers-by saved the driver from the dogs.

Akpomose, who hails from Akwa Ibom State, had gone to the area with his wife to visit his in-law, Mr. Christian Peter, when the dogs pounced on him.

Vanguardgathered that the dogs, owned by a Navy Captain, were being taken out to ease themselves at a nearby uncompleted building, when they saw Akpomose and pounced on him.

The matter was reported at Ogombo Police Division, which referred Akpomose to the General Hospital at Akodo, for immediate treatment due to the severity of his injuries.

His story

When Vanguard visited the victim in the hospital, he said: “My wife and I went to visit my in-law on Sunday. He lives at Okun Ajah Road, in Eti-Osa East Local Council Development Area. Later, on Tuesday morning, I just strolled out of the compound and came across the dogs.

“As I stepped out, I saw a security man coming out with several dogs. They were very huge Alsatian dogs. I was terrified when I saw them and as I tried to go back in, they overpowered the man holding them.

“As I bent down to pick a stone and scare them away, they pounced on me and that was all I knew. They bit me in almost all parts of my body. As I screamed, some residents came out and tried to scare away the dogs with sticks.

“My screams even woke up my in-law who was asleep in the house. At a time, I became weak and unconscious and it was the people who rushed me to the hospital.”

Dogs’ owner intervenes

When Vanguard visited the residence of the dogs’ owner, the Chief Security Officer attached to the building, who identified himself simply as Victor, said: “Immediately I got back home, I explained his condition to my boss who directed me to see his family and take a decision on how to transfer the victim to his own private hospital for proper medical attention.

“We have bought all the drugs they asked us to buy. We are showing the receipt to you just to let you know that we care about the victim.”

‘Impeached’ Ondo State Deputy Governor Says He Is Still In Office, Cites Court Order

The Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Alhaji Ali Olanusi, who is reported to have been impeached, has warned that there is a subsisting court order that the status quo‎ be maintained in respect of that office.

The Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Alhaji Ali Olanusi, who is reported to have been impeached, has warned that there is a subsisting court order that the status quo‎ be maintained in respect of that office.
In effect, the Deputy Governor insists he has not legally been removed from office.

According to his lawyer, Oluwole Kayode, the court order was granted last Thursday, April 23rd, and he emphasized that it touches and affects the office and the holder.

“Another action in respect of the same office and the impeachment process is pending in court and will come up on the 7th of May 2015,” he said, noting that that the hurried nature of the impeachment process is suspect.

“I think public office holders and people who are put in position to defend the constitution must be law abiding,” Mr. Oluwole said.  “In the light of this disobedience to court order and the impunity displayed in the course of the impeachment proceedings, the Deputy Governor is on solid ground.”

Nigerians frowns at Buhari’s appointment Of BBOG founder into presidential committee

Intense outrage in the Nigerian social media space greeted news of the appointment of Hadiza Bala Usman into the Presidential Inauguration Planning Committee of Nigeria’s President-Elect, Muhammadu Buhari on Friday.

Hadiza Bala Usman is the Founder of the #BringBackOurGirls campaign which was purportedly initiated to mobilise public support for the rescue of about 276 schoolgirls kidnapped in Chibok Town, Borno State, Nigeria on April 15, 2014.

The campaign, which has been criticized by observers for advancing the partisan interests of Nigeria’s incoming ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), had one of its frontline activists, Nigeria’s former Education Minister, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili making the 2015 TIME 100 list for her advocacy efforts.

In 2014, Chief Audu Ogbeh, a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) openly acknowledged the #BringBackOurGirls campaign as an offshoot of the All Progressive Congress (APC), a statement for which he later apologized after massive public criticism and outrage.

South Africa ignores Jonathan, says ‘we will discuss with Buhari’s government next month’

South Africa has faulted the decision of the federal government to recall its high commissioners, saying it would communicate diplomatically with Nigeria when Muhammadu Buhari becomes president in May. Recalling that it did not take a similar action when many of its citizens where trapped during the collapse of a guest house at the Synagogue Church of All Nations in Lagos, it described the reaction of the Nigerian government as “unfortunate and regrettable”. “The South African government takes note that the outgoing government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has recalled its acting high commissioner to South Africa,” read a statement issued by Clayson Monyela, spokesperson of the department of international relations and cooperation. “A government resorts to such an extraordinary diplomatic step to express outrage at actions or behaviour of another government. “We are not sure which actions or behaviour of the South African Government the Nigerian Government is protesting. It is only Nigeria that has taken this unfortunate and regrettable step. If this action is based on the incidents of attacks on foreign nationals in some parts of our country, it would be curious for a sisterly country to want to exploit such a painful episode for whatever agenda. “Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa has just returned from Indonesia to attend the Africa-Asia Summit and the 60th Anniversary of the historic Bandung Conference.  At no stage did the Nigerian delegation present at that gathering, express its intention to formally raise the issue with the South African side. “South Africa remains committed to a strong bond of friendship and bilateral relations with Nigeria. It is for this reason that when 84 of our citizens perished on Nigerian soil, we did not blame the Nigerian Government for the deaths and more than nine (9) months delay in the repatriation of the bodies of our fallen compatriots, or for the fact that when these bodies eventually returned, they were in a state that they could not be touched or viewed as required by our burial practice. “We will raise our concerns through diplomatic channels with the new administration that will assume office in Nigeria next month.” In a manner that appears to be a mockery of government’s handling of the insurgency in the country, the statement added that South Africa has been able to bring the xenophobic attack under control and has been receiving support from other African countries. “Through our interventions, relative calm and order has been restored,” the statement read. “We are encouraged by the solidarity our country continues to receive from other African countries and the international community. “We shall also continue to support and not blame the Nigerian government as it battles to deal with Boko Haram that continues to kill many innocent civilians. We hope that the more than 200 girls kidnapped by Boko Haram will someday be reunited with their families.”
